Welcome to the District's Website!
As the Director of the Harris County Flood Control District, I want to welcome you to the District's website. Clear, concise and complete communications at all levels of the District's operations are essential. We pride ourselves on reaching out to the citizens of Harris County and communicating information about District operations. This website forms an integral piece to our overall public outreach program and we understand that, "if you can't write it down, you don't know it."
Our mission, in its simplest terms, is to: Devise the flood damage reduction plans, implement the plans and maintain the infrastructure, and we carry out our mission with appropriate regard for community and natural values.
As we continue to carry out our mission, the community must be mindful that we live in an area subject to weather conditions that can produce extraordinarily intense rainfalls over long durations, resulting in millions, if not billions of dollars, in flood losses.
With the strong support of the Harris County Commissioners Court, we are on a clear path to continue our efforts to reduce the risk of future flood losses and to continue to work responsibly for the citizens of Harris County.
