Buffalo Bayou & Lower White Oak Bayou Federal Flood Damage Reduction and Ecosystem Restoration Study
Public Input
Public Meetings
At various milestones during the study process, the Harris County Flood Control District will host community-wide public meetings for residents in the study area.
The District, in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, held two identical public meetings on November 7 and 13, 2007 to present information about this study and to solicit public feedback. Due to the large geographic study area, two meetings were hosted and the same agenda was presented at each meeting.
The purpose of the meeting was to inform residents in the study area about the federal study and to solicit input regarding study details and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) issues and concerns.
Each meeting was conducted in English and consisted of three parts: a presentation introducing the study, a period for verbal public comments, and an informal open house. The public was encouraged to provide information that may be relevant to the study. Approximately 300 members of the public attended the public meetings and more than 80 comments were submitted as part of the public record that ended on December 20, 2007.
Written and verbal comments received at the November 2007 public meetings and submitted in writing, email or online by December 20, 2007 were included in the public record.
