Buffalo Bayou & Lower White Oak Bayou Federal Flood Damage Reduction and Ecosystem Restoration Study

Public Input

Public Meetings
At various milestones during the study process, the Harris County Flood Control District will host community-wide public meetings for residents in the study area.

The District, in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, held two identical public meetings on November 7 and 13, 2007 to present information about this study and to solicit public feedback. Due to the large geographic study area, two meetings were hosted and the same agenda was presented at each meeting.

The purpose of the meeting was to inform residents in the study area about the federal study and to solicit input regarding study details and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) issues and concerns.

Each meeting was conducted in English and consisted of three parts: a presentation introducing the study, a period for verbal public comments, and an informal open house. The public was encouraged to provide information that may be relevant to the study.

Public Comments
Public comments are important. Whether related to a public meeting, or not, the public is encouraged to provide information that may be relevant to the study and a potential project in the Buffalo Bayou and lower White Oak Bayou study area. Public comments will aid in developing a baseline condition for the study area and will assist in the identification and evaluation of components for flood damage reduction and ecosystem restoration. All comments will be documented, reviewed, and considered during the study. Comments may be submitted in the following ways:

Written comments may be mailed to the Buffalo Bayou and Lower White Oak Federal Study Manager, Harris County Flood Control District, 9900 Northwest Freeway, Houston, TX 77092.
