Buffalo Bayou & Lower White Oak Bayou Federal Flood Damage Reduction and Ecosystem Restoration Study
Study Status
Current Phase of the Study
The study, which began in September 2005, is in its third year and completing the first phase, Analyzing Existing Conditions. Before the conclusion of the phase, the District conducted a public scoping meeting on November 7 and 13, 2007 to raise awareness of the study and collect public comments related to the study. Public comments in this phase are important and will assist with the identification of components in the second phase.
The second phase of the study, Formulate, Evaluate and Select a Plan, should begin near the end of 2008. Overall, a plan is expected to be identified by 2012, although the process to obtain federal approval and funding may take longer.
In all phases of the study process, the District communicates updates to the public on the study progress. This may be done via e-updates, as well as on this website.
