Goose Creek Extension Construction Has Begun

March 16, 2006
Construction to extend a tributary of Goose Creek from Wade to Harrison roads is now underway and is expected to be complete in October 2006, weather permitting.
The $1.2 million project will extend the existing concrete channel from Wade to Harlem Street. The concrete lining of the channel currently ends at Wade. In addition, the project will improve the existing open roadside drainage system with a box culvert system from Harlem to Harris. Both phases are designed to improve the conveyance of stormwater during times of heavy rain.
The majority of the project will benefit the McNair subdivision, north of Interstate 10, in unincorporated Harris County near Baytown.
"I am pleased to see this project taking place to reduce the risk of flooding for residents in the McNair area," said Pct. 2 Commissioner Sylvia Garcia. "I am a big supporter of these efforts and will continue to be."
