Erosion Repair Project to Begin Soon Along Portion of White Oak Bayou

February 8, 2007
The Harris County Flood Control District recently awarded a $160,000 contract to repair eroded side slopes of White Oak Bayou in Jersey Village. Construction is expected to begin in late February or in early March and should take approximately two months to complete. Construction will take place from Lakeview Drive to 1,000 feet upstream, near Ginger Lane and Tahoe Street. This particular segment of the bayou has experienced significant erosion. The project will reestablish the channel's top banks, modify stormwater outfall pipes and line the bottom of the channel with riprap and concrete gabions. These modifications will significantly increase the strength of the channel's slopes.
