Vogel Creek Updates
June 2008 Update
Ultimate Conveyance Improvement Project Construction 95% complete
As of June 2008, approximately 95 percent of the overall construction project is complete and HCFCD has spent $8.7 million of the $9.4 million construction budget to date. Construction highlights include: The Long Creek Lane Bridge and Arncliffe cul-de-sac are both complete and open to traffic. HCFCD is performing clean-up of the site and final inspection of the bridges and utilities with the City. All construction items are anticipated to be 100 percent complete by the end of July 2008.
November 2007 Update
Ultimate Conveyance Improvement Project Construction 70% complete
As of November 2007, approximately 70 percent of the overall construction project is complete and HCFCD has spent $6.59 million of the $9.4 million construction budget to date. Construction highlights include: excavation is 90 percent complete and the White Oak Bayou transition is also 90 percent complete only some cleanup remains. Construction on Long Creek Lane Bridge is 70 percent complete, with completion estimated for December 2007. The lift station at Long Creek Lane Bridge is actually in operation, now, and the channel through Victory Drive is 90 percent complete.
May 2007 Update
Ultimate Conveyance Improvement Project Construction 43% complete
As of May 2007, approximately 43 percent of the overall construction project is complete, and the District has spent $4,037,000 of the $9.4 million construction budget. Construction highlights include: the Maple Tree Bridge is complete and has been reopened to the public; Long Creek Lane Bridge is now closed and work is underway; the lift station at Long Creek Lane Bridge is 90% complete; and the channel through Victory Drive is 40% complete. (The original construction budget of $9.8 million has been reduced to $9.4 million due to the delay of the installation of the Inwood Forest golf cart bridges)
October 2006 Update
Ultimate Conveyance Improvement Project - Construction 15% complete
As of October 2006, approximately 15 percent of the overall construction project is complete, and the District has spent $1,458,000 of the $9.8 million construction budget. Construction highlights include: both the West Little York Bridge and the Maple Tree Bridge have been demolished and work is underway; construction crews have completed a large amount of the channel improvements from White Oak Bayou upstream to West Little York; and excavation has begun under the bridge at Victory.
August 2006 Update
Ultimate Conveyance Improvement Project Construction 10% Complete
As of August 2006, construction is 10 percent complete. Construction highlights include: the installation of the concrete channel lining at the confluence of Vogel Creek and White Oak Bayou is in progress; the proposed sanitary sewer along Arbor Oak Drive is in place and activated; the former Maple Tree Bridge has been removed, the excavation for the proposed bridge has been completed, and the drill shafts for the new bridge will be installed this month.
May 2006 Update
Ultimate Conveyance Improvement Project - Final Phase Contract Awarded
On March 21, 2006, Harris County Commissioners Court authorized the Harris County Flood Control District to award a $9,776,271 million construction contract to Lecon, Inc. to complete the final phase of the Vogel Creek Conveyance Improvements.

Following the relocation of the live TimeWarner fiber optic cable and other unexpected weather delays, construction crews from Hard Rock Construction, Inc. began excavating on the Phase II project on July 26, 2005.
