Construction Activities on Greens Mid-Reach Channel Conveyance Improvements Project – Segment 1 Begin Soon! 

Construction activities include contractor mobilization, initial site preparation, and other related work. Construction crews will be accessing the site from multiple locations along Greens Bayou between John F. Kennedy Boulevard and Aldine Westfield Road.

About this Project
The Greens Mid-Reach Channel Conveyance Improvements Project – Segment 1 consists of conveyance improvements on approximately five miles of channel along the mid-reach of Greens Bayou between JFK Boulevard and east of the future Hardy Stormwater Detention Basin.

This project is part of the Greens Mid-Reach Program. Construction on the channel conveyance improvements is being split into multiple segments.


Funding

  • The total estimated cost for all segments of the Greens Bayou Mid-Reach Program is $78 million.
  • The 2018 Bond Program will contribute approximately $8.2 million in support of Segment 1.
  • Segment 1 and future segments are expected to receive up to $70 million through the Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) program, provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and administered by the Texas General Land Office.
  • The construction contract for Segment 1 was awarded for $16.6 million.
     

The first segment of the channel conveyance improvements project is located along Greens Bayou starting at the downstream end at JFK Boulevard to the west of Aldine Westfield Road.


Anticipated Schedule

  • Construction Start: Q2 2026
  • Construction Completion: Q2 2027
