As a part of the Harris County Flood Control District’s overall maintenance operations, the Flood Control District is undertaking multiple comprehensive projects to evaluate and repair several channel segments that flow into the Addicks Reservoir. The Addicks Reservoir is owned and operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers.

The Addicks Repair Package 1 will address erosion and slope failures that have occurred within the Flood Control District rights-of-way and/or within the channel itself. The work will also include repairs to concrete structures and address outfall failures.

This effort is part of ongoing work to ensure the channels in the Addicks Reservoir watershed are functioning at their design capacity as they carry stormwater into the federal reservoir. Construction on Repair Package 1 is expected to begin in fall 2022 and anticipated to be complete by winter 2023/24.

Residents in the neighborhoods surrounding Langham Creek and Horsepen Creek and their associated tributaries may begin to see construction-related vehicles in these areas, which will include dump trucks and other heavy machinery. Residents are urged to respect all warning signs and avoid trails and sidewalks that may be temporarily impacted as work crews move around the area.

The Flood Control District works to reduce flooding across the region and is committed to keeping residents informed. For more information on this project or other Flood Control District projects, please visit hcfcd.org/F-53.
