Z100-00-00-X282 - Cypress Creek Watershed

Z100-00-00-X282 is a collection of major maintenance projects that will repair various types of channel failures along 7 different project areas within the Cypress Creek watershed. Portions of the identified channels are considered to be in serious failure and these repairs are necessary to prevent further impact to the channels.

Projects included as part of Z100-00-00-X282 are NOT classified as flood damage reduction projects; however, the channel may be widened in some locations in order to restore the channel conveyance capacity back to how the channel was originally designed.

Projects that fall under Z100-00-00-X282 include:

  • K142-00-00-X038 - consists of erosion repair, removal and disposal of sediment accumulations, granular fill and riprap installation, pipe removal and replacement, beginning approximately 3000 linear feet downstream of North Eldridge Parkway and ending at Spring-Cypress Drive.
  • K142-00-00-X036 - consists of erosion repair primarily on the west bank, removal and disposal of sediment accumulations, granular fill and riprap installation, pipe removal and replacement, beginning approximately 150 linear feet downstream of Forest Lodge Drive and ending at the start of K142-00-00-X038.
  • K142-00-00-X030 - consists of erosion repair, removal and disposal of sediment accumulations, granular fill and riprap installation, pipe removal and replacement, beginning approximately 150 feet downstream of Lakewood Forest Drive and ending at the start of K142-00-00-X036.
  • K142-00-00-X039 - consists of erosion repair, removal and disposal of sediment accumulations, granular fill and riprap installation, pipe removal and replacement, beginning 1400 linear feet downstream of Jones Road and ending at the start of K142-00-00- X030.
  • K143-00-00-X013 - consists of erosion repair, removal and disposal of sediment accumulations, deep plow repair, granular fill and riprap installation, pipe removal and replacement, beginning approximately 1250 linear feet downstream of Cypresswood Drive and ending at Cypresswood Drive.

  • K145-00-00-X017 - consists of erosion repair, removal and disposal of sediment accumulations, granular fill and riprap installation, pipe removal and replacement, beginning approximately 1180 linear feet upstream of Jarvis Road and ending and ending at the start of K145-00-00-X014.
  • K145-00-00-X014 - consists of erosion repair, removal and disposal of sediment accumulations, granular fill and riprap installation, pipe removal and replacement, beginning approximately 800 linear feet downstream of Spring Cypress Drive (end of K145-00-00-X017) and ending at Spring Cypress Drive.

The total cost for these channel repairs is expected to be approximately $9.0M and will be funded using grants from the Natural Resources Conservation Service and Federal Emergency Management Agency.

There will be heavy machinery near project sites and substantial vegetation removal operations may be needed in order to properly prepare the site for construction. For public safety reasons, trail users can expect intermittent closures as the projects progress. Please pay attention to posted signage in the project areas.

Construction has already begun at some of the project sites, but anticipated completion for all sites is Fall 2020 depending on weather.
