Z100-00-00-X284 - Cypress Creek, Spring Creek, and Willow Creek Watersheds

Z100-00-00-X284 is a collection of major maintenance projects that will repair various types of channel failures at 11 project areas within the Cypress Creek, Spring Creek, and Willow Creek watersheds. Portions of the identified channels are considered to be in serious failure and these repairs are necessary to prevent further impact to the channels.

Projects included as part of Z100-00-00-X284 are NOT classified as flood damage reduction projects; however, the channel may be widened in some locations in order to restore the channel conveyance capacity back to how the channel was originally designed.

Projects that fall under Z100-00-00-X284 include:

Spring Creek Watershed Repairs

  • J109-01-00-X008 - consists of erosion repair, removal and disposal of unsuitable soils, removal and disposal of concrete channel lining, rebuilding side slopes, granular fill and riprap installation, beginning approximately 1,700 linear feet downstream of Cypresswood Drive and ending approximately 2,150 linear feet downstream of Cypresswood Drive.
  • J131-00-00-X017 - consists of erosion repair, removal and disposal of sediment accumulations, riprap installation, pipe removal and replacement, beginning approximately 310 linear feet downstream of East Hufsmith Road and ending approximately 1,010 linear feet downstream of East Hufsmith Road.

Cypress Creek Watershed Repairs

  • K131-00-00-X024 - consists of erosion repair, removal and disposal of sediment accumulations, removal and disposal of unsuitable soils, rebuilding side slopes, granular fill and riprap installation, pipe removal and replacement, beginning on the downstream side of Cypresswood Drive and ending approximately 960 linear feet downstream of Cypresswood Drive, removal and replacement of a backslope interceptor structure including pipe removal and replacement, on the east bank approximately 2,700 feet downstream of Louetta Road, erosion repair, removal and disposal of unsuitable soils, rebuilding side slopes, granular fill and riprap installation, on the west bank beginning approximately 1,300 linear feet downstream of Louetta Road and ending approximately 1,390 linear feet downstream of Louetta Road, erosion repair, removal and disposal of unsuitable soils, rebuilding side slopes, granular fill and riprap installation, pipe removal and replacement, beginning approximately 280 linear feet downstream of Louetta Road and ending approximately 380 linear feet downstream of Louetta Road, erosion repair, removal and disposal of unsuitable soils, rebuilding side slopes, granular fill and riprap installation, on the west bank beginning approximately 210 linear feet upstream of Louetta Road and ending approximately 180 linear feet upstream of Louetta Road, erosion repair, removal and disposal of unsuitable soils, rebuilding side slopes, granular fill and riprap installation, pipe removal and replacement, on the west bank beginning approximately 950 linear feet downstream of Center Court Drive and ending approximately 1,150 linear feet downstream of Center Court Drive.
  • K131-02-00-X024 - consists of removal and replacement of concrete channel lining, pipe removal and replacement, on the east bank beginning approximately 490 linear feet upstream of Oakwood Glen Boulevard and ending approximately 420 linear feet upstream of Oakwood Glen Boulevard, erosion repair, removal and disposal of unsuitable soils, rebuilding side slopes, granular fill and riprap installation, on the north bank beginning approximately 750 linear feet upstream of Theisswood Road and ending approximately 650 linear feet upstream of Theisswood Road.
  • K131-04-00-X009 - consists of erosion repair and riprap installation in the middle of the channel beginning approximately 305 linear feet upstream of TC Jester Boulevard and ending approximately 230 linear feet upstream of TC Jester Boulevard, erosion repair, removal and disposal of unsuitable soils, rebuilding side slopes, granular fill and riprap installation, on the north and south banks beginning approximately 330 linear feet downstream of TC Jester Boulevard and ending approximately 580 linear feet downstream of TC Jester Boulevard.

Willow Creek Watershed Repairs

  • M102-00-00-X005 - consists of erosion repair, removal and disposal of sediment accumulations, removal and disposal of unsuitable soils, rebuilding side slopes, granular fill and riprap installation, beginning at the upstream end of M102-00-00 approximately 1,375 linear feet upstream of West Rayford Road and ending approximately 1,275 linear feet upstream of West Rayford Road.
  • M109-00-00-X007 - consists of erosion repair, removal and disposal of unsuitable soils, rebuilding side slopes, granular fill and riprap installation, on the south bank beginning approximately 1,700 linear feet upstream of West Rayford Road and ending approximately 1,400 linear feet upstream of West Rayford Road, erosion repair, removal and disposal of unsuitable soils, rebuilding side slopes, granular fill and riprap installation, pipe removal and replacement, on the south bank beginning immediately upstream of Willowick Drive and ending approximately 160 linear feet downstream of Willowick Drive.
  • M109-00-00-X008 - consists of erosion repair, removal and disposal of unsuitable soils, rebuilding side slopes, granular fill and riprap installation, beginning approximately 1,350 linear feet downstream of West Rayford Road and ending approximately 1,450 linear feet downstream of West Rayford Road.
  • M109-01-01-X001 - consists of erosion repair, removal and disposal of unsuitable soils, rebuilding side slopes, granular fill and riprap installation, on the south bank beginning approximately 45 linear feet downstream of Kuykendahl Road and ending approximately 150 linear feet downstream of Kuykendahl Road.
  • M114-00-00-X002 - consists of filling voids under existing channel lining, pipe removal and replacement, on the north bank approximately 250 linear feet upstream of Dowdell Road.
  • M122-00-00-X003 - consists of erosion repair, granular fill and riprap installation, on the west bank approximately 250 linear feet downstream of Grand Parkway. 

The total cost for these channel repairs is expected to be approximately $2.8M and will be funded using grants from the Natural Resources Conservation Service and Federal Emergency Management Agency.

There will be heavy machinery near project sites and substantial vegetation removal operations may be needed in order to properly prepare the site for construction.For public safety reasons, trail users can expect intermittent closures as the projects progress. Please pay attention to posted signage in the project areas.

Anticipated completion for all sites is Summer 2020 depending on weather.
