Z100-00-00-X288 - Clear Creek, Armand Bayou, and Sims Bayou Watersheds

Z100-00-00-X288 is a collection of major maintenance projects that will repair various types of channel failures at 24 project areas within the Clear Creek, Armand Bayou, and Sims Bayou watersheds. Portions of the identified channels are considered to be in serious failure and these repairs are necessary to prevent further impact to the channels.

Projects included as part of Z100-00-00-X288 are NOT classified as flood damage reduction projects; however, the channel may be widened in some locations in order to restore the channel conveyance capacity back to how the channel was originally designed.

Projects that fall under Z100-00-00-X288 include:

Clear Creek Watershed Repairs

  • A107-03-00-X009 - consists of toe and slope repair including re-establishing the toe line with riprap, slope repairs with onsite and/or imported fill, and disposal of non-usable dirt.
  • A107-03-01-X009 - consists of slope and scour repairs at two locations. The first location consists of removing the existing riprap at the failed locations, installing gabions and putting back the riprap on the stabilized slope. The second location consists of scour repairs on channel bottom as well as channel side slopes using riprap.
  • A109-00-00-X001 - consists of slope and scour repairs including filling in with riprap as well as onsite/imported fill.
  • A111-00-00-X014 - consists of sinkhole repair and replacement of damaged outfall pipe including the backslope interceptor structure.
  • A111-00-00-X015 - consists of slope and scour repairs including installing riprap, granular fill as well as onsite/imported fill.
  • A119-00-00-X012 - consists of concrete panel replacements at two locations, filling in a sinkhole and replacing existing outfall pipe.
  • A119-00-00-X013 - consists of concrete panel replacements at multiple locations and filling in sinkholes.
  • A120-04-00-X008 - consists of slope erosion repairs using riprap, granular fill and imported fill.
  • A120-04-01-X004 - consists of slope erosion repairs and concrete channel lining replacement at 3 identified locations.
  • A120-06-00-X005 - consists of reconstruction of backslope interceptor structure and outfall.
  • A120-07-00-X003 - consists of rip rap protection at end of outfall pipe to A120-00-00.
  • A120-08-00-X005 - consists of sinkhole repairs using flowable fill and/or cement stabilized sand.
  • A120-10-00-X003 - consists of slope and channel bottom erosion repairs using riprap, granular fill and onsite and/or imported fill at downstream side of Blackhawk Blvd.

Armand Bayou Watershed Repairs

  • B104-00-00-X015 - consists of slope erosion repairs using riprap, granular fill and imported fill.
  • B109-00-00-X006 - consists of slope erosion repairs using riprap and imported fill.
  • B112-02-00-X019 - consists of slope erosion repairs and removal of concrete slope paving around outfall and replace with riprap.
  • B112-02-00-X020 - consists of erosion repairs using flowable fill and imported fill.
  • B112-04-00-X001 - consists of removal and replacement of concrete channel lining, removal and replacement of pipe.
  • B113-00-00-X011 - consists of slope erosion repairs using riprap, granular fill and onsite and/or imported fill.

Sims Bayou Watershed Repairs

  • C100-00-00-X058 - consists of slope erosion repairs using riprap, granular fill and imported fill.
  • C106-07-00-X003 - consists of filling slope erosion repairs and filling numerous voids behind structures with fill.
  • C106-10-00-X009 - consists of pipe replacement, slope erosion repairs using riprap, granular fill, onsite and/or imported fill.
  • C118-00-00-X010 - consists of pipe replacement, slope erosion repairs using riprap, granular fill, imported fill.
  • C153-00-00-X005 - consists of slope erosion repairs using riprap, granular fill and imported fill.

The total cost for these channel repairs is expected to be approximately $1.1M and will be funded using grants from the Natural Resources Conservation Service and Federal Emergency Management Agency.

There will be heavy machinery near project sites and substantial vegetation removal operations may be needed in order to properly prepare the site for construction.For public safety reasons, trail users can expect intermittent closures as the projects progress. Please pay attention to posted signage in the project areas.

Anticipated completion for all sites is Spring 2020 depending on weather.
