Z100-00-00-X289 - Greens Bayou Watershed

Z100-00-00-X289 is a collection of major maintenance projects that will repair various types of channel failures along 14 different project areas within the Greens Bayou watershed. Portions of the identified channels are considered to be in serious failure and these repairs are necessary to prevent further impact to the channels.

In order to restore channel conveyance capacity to its original design, excavation may widen some channel sections beyond their current condition.

Projects that fall under Z100-00-00-X289 include:

  • P140-04-03-X007 - consists of installing an offsite ditch interceptor and pipe removal and replacement. This project is located approximately 730 feet upstream of Hardy Toll Rd, adjacent to Lochinvar Golf Club.
  • P155-00-00-X003 - consists of erosion repair, granular fill installation, and imported fill. This project is located directly downstream of Rankin Rd.
  • P156-00-00-X005 - consists of filling washout area with imported fill. This project is located below the Greens Rd bridge.
  • P155-00-00-X004 - consists of repairing an existing concrete weir by removing and replacing storm sewer, backfilling the space with cement stabilized sand, and capping with concrete lining. This project is located approximately 100 feet downstream of Greens Rd.
  • P100-00-00-X120 - consists of erosion repair, removal and disposal of sediment accumulations, granular fill and riprap installation, imported fill, pipe removal and replacement. This project begins approximately 850 feet upstream of Waverly Drive and ends approximately 4,300 feet downstream of Hardy Toll Rd.

  • P100-00-00-X122 - consists of erosion repair, granular fill and riprap installation, imported fill, pipe removal and replacement. This project has three (3) sites; two sites begin at John F. Kennedy Blvd and upstream about 900 feet and the other site begins approximately 250 feet downstream of John F Kennedy Blvd. for 550 feet.
  • P100-00-00-X123 - consists of erosion repair, granular fill and riprap installation, imported fill, pipe removal and replacement. This project has three sites: two sites are located adjacent to Aldine Bender Rd, and the third site is located approximately 2,700 feet downstream of Aldine Bender Rd.
  • P135-00-00-X005 - consists of erosion repair, riprap installation, and imported fill. This project is located approximately 600 feet upstream (north) of Cross Continents Dr.
  • P100-00-00-X121 - consists of erosion repair, granular fill and riprap installation, imported fill, pipe removal and replacement with a headwall structure. This project is located approximately 2,500 feet upstream of US Highway 59.

  • P118-00-00-X056 - consists of erosion repair, granular fill and riprap installation, imported fill, pipe removal and replacement. This project is located directly upstream of North Wayside Dr.
  • P118-00-00-X055 - consists of erosion repair, riprap installation, imported fill, pipe removal and replacement. This project is located approximately 3,000 feet downstream of Homestead Rd.
  • P118-09-00-X011 - consists of removal and replacement of concrete channel lining and removal and replacement of the outfall pipe. This project is located between Bigwood St and Bretshire Dr.
  • P118-13-00-X005 - consists of filling voids behind the concrete lined channel. This project is located from approximately 300 feet upstream of Calgary Ln. to 650 feet upstream of Langley Road.
  • P118-13-02-X004 - consists of filling a void behind the concrete lined channel. This project is located approximately 180 feet downstream of Wicklowe St.

The total cost for these channel repairs is expected to be approximately $7.8M and will be funded using grants from the Natural Resources Conservation Service and Federal Emergency Management Agency.

There will be heavy machinery near project sites and substantial vegetation removal operations may be needed in order to properly prepare the site for construction.For public safety reasons, trail users can expect intermittent closures as the projects progress. Please pay attention to posted signage in the project areas.

Anticipated completion for all sites is Summer 2020 depending on weather.
