Construction Update: Brookglen Stormwater Detention Basin – Phase 2

Flood risk reduction work is moving forward in your area. The Harris County Flood Control District and the City of La Porte will soon begin construction on Phase 2 of the Brookglen Stormwater Detention Basin. The project is located near Somerton Drive and Ashwyne Lane and is designed to help reduce flooding in the Brookglen subdivision.

Once complete, the basin will safely collect and temporarily store excess stormwater during heavy storms. The basin will normally remain dry and will include three compartments that work together to manage stormwater when it’s needed most.

What to Expect During Construction:
• Construction is expected to be completed by early 2027, weather and site conditions permitting.
• Gladwyne Lane will remain open to help maintain normal traffic flow.
• Construction vehicles will enter and exit the site using Somerton Drive.
• Residents may notice increased truck traffic and heavy equipment operating during daylight hours.

For your safety, please be mindful of your surroundings and do not enter the marked construction zone.
