PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project will make repairs and enhancements to the Lower Greens Bayou regional detention embankment and make control structure improvements. The project, formally known as HCFCD Unit P500-01-00, is located west of the Sam Houston Tollway, between Tidwell Road to the south and E. Mount Houston Road to the north.

Stormwater detention basins reduce flooding risks and damages during heavy rain events by safely storing excess stormwater and slowly releasing it back to the bayou when the threat of flooding has passed.

The Harris County Flood Control District has a significant number of flood damage reduction projects occurring all over Harris County as part of its on-going Capital Improvement Program (CIP), Operations and Maintenance, and the 2018 Bond Program.
