PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The goal of this project is to reduce flooding risks by improving the capacity of Halls Bayou Tributary P118-23-00 and Sub-Tributary P118-23-02 to convey stormwater during rain events.

Location

Tributary P118-23-00 is located just upstream (west) of Hardy Toll Road with an approximate length of 1.5 miles and drainage area of 780 acres. The channel terminates at Canino Road. Sub-tributaryP118-23-02 intersects with P118-23-00 near Gulf Bank Road.

Stage

This project is currently undergoing an Alternatives Analysis as part of the PRELIMINARY ENGINEERING stage. This stage of the project will result in a Preliminary Engineering Report with a recommended project that can be taken to Harris County Commissioners Court for approval and then advanced to the DESIGN stage. The PER may identify needed right-of-way acquisition, utility relocation and a preliminary cost estimate.

Bond Project Listing

Bond Projects C-26 and C-27 are potential future Partnership projects with the City of Houston and Harris County.

  • The total allocation for all stages of the C-26 P118-23-00 project is currently $16 million on the Bond Project List, of which approximately $14.4 million would be partnership funding, if granted, and $1.6 million would be local costs.
  • The total allocation for all stages of the C-27 P118-23-02 project is currently $12 million on the Bond Project List, of which approximately $10.8 million would be partnership funding, if granted, and $1.2 million would be local costs.

Project Lifecycle

Every flood damage reduction project is unique. Yet each project begins and ends, with common and predictable milestones along the way. Whether a project moves forward – and how quickly – depends on many factors, including the availability of funding at each milestone, shifting community priorities for flood damage reduction, and other changing circumstances (such as the price of trees or concrete) from year to year.
