Project Description

Bond ID F-76 provides funding to restore and enhance wetlands on an approximately 330-acre former agricultural site to create wetland mitigation credits. Credits provided by the Clear Creek Regional Mitigation Bank would be used to offset federally permitted wetland impacts caused by other projects in the bank’s service area, including Flood Control District projects as well as those of other agencies that support Flood Control District goals.

Visit the wetlands mitigation bank page for information on the Flood Control District’s wetlands mitigation bank program.

Location

This site is located in Brazoria County, west of State Highway 35 along Chigger Creek, a tributary of Clear Creek, on property owned by the Harris County Flood Control District.

Stage

This project is in the PRELIMINARY ENGINEERING stage. In this stage, engineers and environmental specialists develop and evaluate possible alternatives, prepare mitigation site plans, project specifications and detailed cost estimates.

List of 2018 Bond Projects

The Harris County Flood Control District has a significant number of flood damage reduction projects occurring all over Harris County as part of its on-going Capital Improvement Program (CIP), Operations and Maintenance, and the 2018 Bond Program. Click the Project ID on the Map to learn about projects’ details. Some early-stage projects are not highlighted on the map. The map will be updated when projects advance or when more information becomes available.

Project Lifecycle

Every flood damage reduction project is unique. Yet each project begins and ends, with common and predictable milestones along the way. Whether a project moves forward – and how quickly – depends on many factors, including the availability of funding at each milestone, shifting community priorities for flood damage reduction, and other changing circumstances (such as the price of trees or concrete) from year to year.
