C-01 Halls Bayou Tributary P118-26-00

and Stormwater Detention Basins P518-26-01 and P518-26-02

Project Description

This project involves channel conveyance improvements on Tributary P118-26-00, with connections to and final excavation of Stormwater Detention Basins P518-26-01 and P518-26-02 near Helms Road.

Stormwater detention basins reduce flooding risks and damages during heavy rain events by safely storing excess stormwater and slowly releasing it back to the bayou when the threat of flooding has passed.

LOCATION

This project includes the entire one-mile length of Tributary P118-26-00, which is located north of Halls Bayou and east of Airline Drive, from near Holtman Street to the confluence with Halls Bayou. The proposed basin sites are located adjacent to the channel, near E. Helms Road.

Project Stage

This project is currently in the PRELIMINARY ENGINEERING stage. This stage of the project will result in a Preliminary Engineering Report with a recommended project that can be taken to Harris County Commissioners Court for approval and then advanced to the DESIGN stage. The PER may identify needed right-of-way acquisition, utility relocation and a preliminary cost estimate.
