Project Description

What is being done to the Galveston Sub UPRR (Union Pacific Railroad) Bridge?

The Union Pacific Railroad is reconstructing the Galveston Sub UPRR Bridge, after which the Flood Control District will be improving the channel around the bridge. Construction for the bridge by Union Pacific Railroad began in Summer 2021. Once bridge construction is completed, the Flood Control District will finish the channel work near the bridge with an expected completion for the entire project in Fall 2021. This channel improvements will allow the Houston Parks Board to build a trail on the North and South side of the bayou that connects to the existing trail downstream of the railroad tracks.

Galveston Sub UPRR (Union Pacific Railroad) Bridge

Construction on the UPRR (Union Pacific Railroad) bridge began in Summer 2021 and is anticipated to be completed in Fall 2021. The bridge project will cost approximately $1,300,000.
