PROJECT UPDATE – February 2021

As of February 2021, the study team has completed the alternatives analysis task. This means we evaluated several options to determine their potential to reduce flooding in the Keegans Bayou watershed. Soon, we will be ready to present the results at a virtual public meeting. When the meeting date is selected, the community will be notified. We look forward to engaging with the communities of Keegans Bayou watershed.

Recent Action

September 15, 2020 – Harris County Commissioners Court authorized the acquisition of two tracts of land in support of this project.

March 24, 2020 – Harris County Commissioners Court approved $820,000 for engineering services for this project.

September 24, 2019 – Harris County Commissioners Court authorized and initiated this project

Project description

This project will analyze the flooding occurring in the Keegans Bayou area and recommend projects to reduce flooding risks. 

The Harris County Flood Control District has a significant number of flood damage reduction projects occurring all over Harris County as part of its on-going Capital Improvement Program (CIP), Operations and Maintenance, and the 2018 Bond Program. The map will be updated when projects advance or when more information becomes available.
