In May 2020, following Harris County Commissioners Court approval of an agreement with an engineering consultant, the Flood Control District initiated the Preliminary Engineering stage for this section of its property. This stage of engineering will result in a Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) that includes three alternatives for a stormwater detention basin and a recommendation of the most beneficial alternative.
The property east of T.C. Jester is currently in the preliminary engineering phase of the project lifecycle. During this time, multiple detention basin alternatives will be developed and considered. These alternatives will be presented to the community for comment during a Bond Program Community Engagement Meeting, which is tentatively scheduled for Spring 2021. Additionally, the Flood Control District has applied for federal grant money to help fund construction of a portion of the detention basin. These funds are not guaranteed, but if selected for approval, the grant will be awarded in Spring / Summer 2021.
