This project, resulting from community input during the 2018 Bond Program community engagement meetings, intends to reduce the risk of flooding for structures near Tributaries P130-05-00 and P130-05-01.
The feasibility study, completed in Spring 2021, investigated the source of flooding in the area and identified several challenges towards establishing the optimal solution to reduce the risk of flooding in the area:
- Culvert crossings in several locations along Tributary P130-05-01 are undersized and acting choke points for the drainage flow and causes the rainwater to accumulate.
- Areas along Tributary P130-05-01 have excessive amounts of foliage overgrowth, which constricts the flow of stormwater along the channel.
- There are sections of the channel that are narrow, also contributing to the constriction of flow.
- There is one gas pipeline that crosses the channel; the recommended solution must not adversely affect this pipeline.
Once complete, the feasibility study will put forth a recommended solution to reduce the risk of flooding in the area and the solution will be further analyzed during the preliminary engineering stage.
