Project description
This project is expected to help address persistent flooding issues in the Arbor Oaks & Greater Inwood neighborhoods in the White Oak Bayou watershed. As part of that effort, the Flood Control District intends to build a stormwater detention basin on property it owns south of Victory Drive, near the confluence of White Oak Bayou, HCFCD Unit E100-00-00, and its Tributary, Vogel Creek E121-00-00 using a $10.8 million grant from the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
The Arbor Oaks Stormwater Detention Basin is expected to provide 173 million gallons of stormwater storage. Additional property will be acquired as part of this project.
We are currently engaged in PRELIMINARY ENGINEERING for the basin project. This is the stage in which we explore alternatives for the project, and then decide on one alternative to recommend for the DESIGN stage.
