C-38 Dinner Creek Stormwater Detention Basin U520-01-00

This project will stabilize and expand a stormwater detention basin located east of Greenhouse Road on Dinner Creek, a tributary of Langham Creek in the Addicks Reservoir watershed of northwest Harris County. Stormwater detention basins reduce flooding risks by temporarily taking in stormwater during heavy rain events, and releasing the water back to the bayou when the threat of flooding has passed.

The Dinner Creek Stormwater Detention Basin originally was excavated by a subdivision developer and is now owned and maintained by the Flood Control District. Preliminary work on a conceptual design for stabilizing and expanding the basin included field surveys downstream along Langham Creek in the Yorktown Villas subdivision.

A draft conceptual design report is now in review. The project is included for design in the Flood Control District's Fiscal Year 2018 Capital Improvement Program, with construction to follow.
