F-24 Katy Hockley Wetlands Mitigation Bank K700-01-00

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This is a wetland restoration project to create wetland mitigation credits that will be used to offset wetland impacts created from other District projects.

PROJECT STAGE

This project is in the DEVELOPMENT stage. This stage will result in an approved Mitigation Banking Instrument and an Army Corps of Engineers permit to conduct wetland restoration. Once permitted, the project will go into the DESIGN stage.

BOND PROJECT LISTING

Bond Project F-24 is categorized as a “Local Only” bond project. This means there is no other funding partner at this time and project costs would be paid with bond funding. The Bond Project List includes a total allocation for the design and construction phases of $9.3 million.

PROJECT MILESTONES

August 27, 2019 – Harris County Commissioners Court authorized a mitigation banking instrument, prices for sale of mitigation credits, a conservation easement with Katy Prairie Conservancy, and construction in support of this project

June 3, 2019 – The Final Mitigation Banking Instrument was submitted to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for review by local and federal agencies.

December 11, 2018 – The first draft Mitigation Banking Instrument was submitted to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for review by local and federal agencies.

July 25, 2017 – The Prospectus was submitted to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and put on Public Notice.

June 23, 2015 - Harris County Commissioners Court approved a $199,388.00 agreement with an environmental firm for specialized evaluation and planning services in support of this project.
