The Harris County Flood Control District will hold a Community Engagement Meeting for the Mercer Stormwater Detention Basin. The purpose of this meeting is to inform residents about the status of the Mercer Stormwater Detention Basin and share project information.

The Mercer Stormwater Detention Basin project focuses on reducing flooding risks in this part of the Cypress Creek watershed by taking in and temporarily holding excess stormwater until it can drain safely back into the connecting stormwater channel. This project will receive funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery program (CDBG-DR) awarded to the Harris County Community Services Department. Additional funding comes from the 2018 Bond Program, which was approved by Harris County voters on August 25, 2018. Community engagement is an important component of the CDBG-DR program and the Bond Program, and we invite your participation as this project is implemented.
