Almeda Bridge Over Brays Bayou Open to Traffic

The Harris County Flood Control District has opened the Almeda Road Bridge over Brays Bayou to commuters and pedestrians. The approximately $7.7 million Almeda Road Bridge construction project demolished and replaced the previous bridge with a higher, longer and wider bridge. The new bridge has five 11-foot lanes, including a left turn lane at each intersection, and an expanded 10-foot sidewalk. Initially, only one lane of northbound and southbound traffic will be open to commuters, while additional paving and construction is completed on the bridge.

Construction Advisory for W. Little York Stormwater Detention Basins

In an effort to keep you informed about the Harris County Flood Control District’s continuing improvements in the Addicks Reservoir watershed, we want to notify you of an upcoming construction project. Starting in Winter 2021/2022, the Flood Control District will begin an Excavation and Removal (E&R) project on property north of West Little York Road and west of Highway 6. This property will be an active construction zone for the extent of the contract, which could be up to three years.

Construction Update: S. Rice Bridge Opening/Traffic Switch

The new S. Rice Ave. bridge over Brays Bayou is now open! While construction under the new bridge continues, commuters will have continuous access via the new bridge to cross Brays Bayou through the completion of the project estimated for Winter 2021/2022.
