Public comment period for the Channel Conveyance Improvements along C147-00-00 and Stormwater Detention Basin project

Public comment period for the Channel Conveyance Improvements along C147-00-00 and Stormwater Detention Basin project

The Flood Control District is opening a public comment period to provide visibility on the proposed changes to the Channel Conveyance Improvements along C147-00-00 project, which is receiving CDBG-MIT funding.  Based on further engineering analysis, the design for this project has been updated from what was shared in the first quarter of 2025. The updated design shows that the channel conveyance improvements will now extend from the Sims Bayou mainstem to S. Post Oak Road, rather than continuing to Beltway 8 as previously proposed. This design change will still reduce the risk of flooding in the project area.  Written comments on this proposed design change must be received by the Flood Control District by 4:30 p.m. on March 31, 2026, to be considered part of the formal CDBG-MIT comment period. Comments can be submitted using the “Submit a Comment” form on this webpage, emailed to [email protected], or mailed to the Harris County Flood Control District, ATTN: CDBG Communications, 9900 Northwest Freeway, Houston, TX 77092. Visit HCFCD.org/CDBG for information about the criteria, project scopes, and benefits.
