Join Us! Flood Resilience Strategies Virtual Workshops: May 2026

We invite you to join us this May for a series of virtual workshops focused on reviewing and strengthening proposed flood resilience strategies.

The Harris County Flood Resilience Plan is an effort to reduce flood risk and build stronger, more resilient communities across the county, and your input is a key part of shaping the strategies and recommendations.

We invite you to join us this May for a series of virtual workshops focused on reviewing and strengthening proposed flood resilience strategies.

These conversations are designed to be interactive, practical, and grounded in the real experiences of communities like yours. Whether you’re a community leader, educator, nonprofit partner, or technical professional, your perspective is an important part of this process.

Why This Matters
Last fall, many of you joined us for Step 1 of our process, participating in workshops and discussions about how flooding impacts people and communities across Harris County. Those conversations helped build a shared understanding of local challenges and priorities.

Since then, the project team has:

  • Completed an analysis of flood vulnerabilities across the county
  • Begun developing strategies to address those risks

Now, we’re ready for the next step.

What to Expect
We’re heading into Step 2 of the plan development process. This includes a series of sessions giving folks the opportunity to:

  • Explore proposed flood resilience strategies
  • Share feedback based on your experience and work
  • Discuss what’s working, what’s missing, and what could be improved
  • Identify opportunities to build on existing efforts and collaborate moving forward

Attendees will also see how these strategies connect to the broader Flood Resilience Plan and what they could mean for our communities.

Who Should Attend
This invitation is intended for community leaders, organizations, local technical leaders, and groups like yours — those working to build safer, stronger communities and who understand the impacts of flooding. Participants will include civic groups, nonprofits, educational institutions, MUDs, and professional organizations — each bringing valuable insight to the conversation.

Workshop Details
The same content will be offered across four virtual sessions on different dates and times. You only need to attend one workshop. Register to attend by clicking on the date that works best with your schedule.

Help Us Spread the Word!
Please feel free to share this invitation with others who should be part of this conversation. We hope you will join us and help shape the future of flood resilience in our county.
