2019-2020 Planting Season

During the 2019-20 tree planting season, which runs from October 2019 through March 2020, the Flood Control District planted approximately 13,201 native trees on multiple sites around Harris County. Tree species included loblolly pine, bald cypress, pecan, sycamore, water oak and others.

Planting sites included:

  • 3,216 trees at a stormwater detention basin in the Armand Bayou watershed formally identified as HCFCD Unit B504-03-00, near Clear Lake City Boulevard
  • 1,600 trees at a stormwater detention basin in the Willow Creek watershed formally identified as HCFCD Unit M525-01-00, near Humble Road
  • 1,500 trees at the Willow Waterhole Stormwater Detention basin in the Brays Bayou watershed formally identified as HCFCD Unit D512-01-00, near South Willow Drive
  • 1,187 trees along a tributary of Cypress Creek formally identified as HCFCD Unit K167-00-00, from Cypress North Houston Road to the tributary’s confluence with Cypress Creek
  • 1,072 trees at a stormwater detention basin in the San Jacinto River watershed formally identified as HCFCD Unit G504-01-00, near Luella Avenue
  • 1,030 trees at a stormwater detention basin in the Greens Bayou watershed formally identified as HCFCD Unit P549-02-00, near Hollister Road.
  • 988 trees at a stormwater detention basin in the Little Cypress Creek watershed formally identified as HCFCD Unit L522-02-00 near Spring Cypress Road
  • 676 trees along a tributary of Horsepen Bayou formally identified as HCFCD Unit B104-02-00, from Space Center Boulevard to the tributary’s confluence with Horsepen Bayou in the Armand Bayou watershed
  • 611 trees at a stormwater detention basin in the Cypress Creek watershed formally identified as HCFCD Unit K524-11-00, near Ella Boulevard
  • 391 trees at a stormwater detention basin in the Addicks Reservoir watershed formally identified as HCFCD Unit U500-02-00, near Longenbaugh Drive
  • 330 trees along a tributary of Greens Bayou formally identified as HCFCD Unit P138-00-00 and also known as Ditch #9 DD-7, near Verhalen Avenue
  • 270 trees at a stormwater detention basin in the Cypress Creek watershed formally identified as HCFCD Unit K542-03-00, near Spring Cypress Road
  • 150 trees along Brays Bayou near Forest Hill Boulevard
  • 140 trees in the Blue Bell Subdivision near Tamara Lane and Murley Street in the Halls Bayou watershed
  • 40 trees along Brays Bayou from Main Street to Braeswood Court
